Background

D-8 MALAYSIA FOUNDATION

Pioneering Islamic Economic Exellence for Sustainable Development

Established under the mandate of the Organization for Economic Cooperation D-8 (D-8) and the Cooperation of Al-Hidayah Group, it is registered and regulated by the Malaysian Trustees Act 1952 [Act 258] under the supervision of the Legal Affairs Division, Prime Minister’s Department (BHEUU).

D8MF aims to create an advanced Islamic Economy model within the D-8 Center for Economic & Creative Financial (D-8 CEFC) Private Initiative. D8MF will promote knowledge of the Islamic Gift Economy among D-8 member states through education, including Zakat, Waqaf, Hibah, Qardhul Hassan, etc. Education syllabi and content will be developed by D8MF via university partners.

D8MF is also empowered to design and formulate, and to play a pivotal role to support the nation’s efforts in delivering the United Nations program on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). It provides a holistic solution to mobilize Islamic Economic resources in achieving the 6 main Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for D-8 member countries.

To serve as the brain center for Islamic economics in Malaysia, pioneering innovative frameworks that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially targeting poverty alleviation, quality education, and decent work, with the aim of setting a benchmark for D-8 nations.

To establish Malaysia as a model of Islamic economic success by creating, testing, and refining sustainable development practices that can be replicated across the D-8 countries, empowering communities and fostering economic resilience.

To mobilize Islamic social finance resources and strategic partnerships within Malaysia, enabling sustainable growth and responsible consumption while enhancing the well-being of communities as a prototype for wider D-8 implementation.

To champion a unified approach to Islamic economics that leverages Malaysia’s success stories to inspire and facilitate mutual business interests, ultimately guiding the D-8 nations toward scalable poverty-reduction solutions and shared prosperity.
